S7-P02: Weather Extremes Early Warning

The Weather Extremes Early Warning products provide on daily basis information about the probability of extreme temperature (at 2 m above surface) and precipitation occurences for the upcoming seven days, over the entire African Continent. Extremes are defined from a reference climatology. The Weather Extremes Early Warning service utilizes the NCEP Global Ensemble Forecast System (GEFS).

  • Probability (%) of extreme low temperature (at 2 m) occurrence based on climatology (0.01, 0.05, 0.10 quantiles)
  • Probability (%) of extreme high temperature (at 2 m) occurrence based on climatology (0.90, 0.95, 0.99 quantiles)
  • Probability (%) of extreme temperature (at 2 m) occurrence based on climatology (0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.90, 0.95, 0.99 quantiles)
  • Probability (%) of 2 m temperature occurrence below zero degrees Celsius
  • Probability (%) of extreme precipitation occurrence (0.90, 0.95, 0.99 quantiles)
